Lucille Coles McKendrick1917 ~ 2012Lucille Coles McKendrick, 94, died peacefully at her home on January 11, 2012 from cancer. She faced this last difficult challenge in her life as she did everything else, with courage, fortitude and determination.Lucille always remembered birthdays. Keeping with this tradition, she joined her beloved husband on his birthday. She is the last of her generation.Lucille was born on June 20, 1917 to Charles F. Coles and Lillian Hunter Coles. She married Maurice Nilsson McKendrick on November 20, 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a caregiver to many. An avid gardener, her flowers and yard were always beautiful. She served a two year Genealogical Extraction Mission with her husband. She was active for many years with the Westside Association of Duck Clubs and an officer in the Wasatch Properties Club. She loved the out of doors. Yearly family vacations were spent fishing for trout on the Yellowstone River.Lucille is survived by her children: J.C. McKendrick (Peggy) and Ann Daubek, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and a great, great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother (wife and son), sister, granddaughter and son-in-law. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the caregivers from Intermountain Homecare Hospice and Danville Support Services, who supported her independence in her last months with loving care, attention, and understanding.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, where friends and family may call from 11:30-12:45 prior to the services. Interment to follow in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
