Warren Brent HardyOct. 14, 1933 ~ Jan. 10, 201278 of Las Vegas, passed away at home on January 10 surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born October 14, 1933 in LaVerkin, Utah to Isaac Warren and Harriet Bowers Hardy. Brent was a U.S. Army Veteran and co-owner of Hardy's OK Tires in North Las Vegas for many years. He served as a member of the North Las Vegas City Council from 1986 to 1993. As a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints he served his church in many capacities including as a full time church missionary to Hong Kong, China from 1956 to 1959. He married the love of his life, Elaine Taylor, for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on December 16, 1960. Before graduating with an Economics Degree from the University of Utah, he served as Bishop of his local ward. In 1968, Brent and Elaine were called to preside over the church's Southern Far East Mission. They later returned to serve as the Hong Kong Temple President and Matron. His church service included time as a Regional Representative to the First Presidency, Stake Patriarch, temple sealer, seminary teacher and Sunday school teacher for over 25 years. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elaine Taylor Hardy; his children, Dianne Tobler (Howard), Warren (Carol), Rebecca Robb Wagner (Wade), Hance (Cyndi), and Jared (Nichol); 23 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and two sisters, DeLora Leavitt and Lana Freelove.He was preceded in death by his mother, father, younger brother, Eldon Bowers Hardy, his business partner for over 20 years, and son-in-law Curtis Robb. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Missionary Fund at www.ldsphilanthropies.org/missionary/.A public viewing will be held at the LDS Stake Center, 4040 E Wyoming in Las Vegas from 5 until 8 p.m. on Friday, January 13. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, at the same location with a 9 a.m. viewing. Interment will occur in LaVerkin, Utah.
