B. Morris Grover1925 ~ 2012Morris Grover, age 86, died January 4, 2012 at the Utah State Veterans Nursing Home in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born October 19, 1925 in McCammon, Idaho to Clarence Barton Grover and Sarah Alda Morris Grover. He attended Granite High School. He married LaFonda Hanks July 27, 1944 at the Logan LDS Temple. Morris served in the Navy in the Pacific; during WW II. he was a born sailor and was never seasick. He was a master brick & stone mason and contractor. He took great pride in his work. Morris loved fishing with his friends and family, he was glad to catch fish and equally glad to give them away. Morris loved to travel and visited 47 states including Hawaii and Alaska; he also cruised the Panama Canal and traveled to Mexico. He was an expert trap-shooter and brought home many trophies. He enjoyed 24 years living on the Oregon coast. He and LaFonda served an LDS Mission in Louisiana, acquiring life-long friends along the way. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they adored him.Morris is survived by his beloved wife LaFonda, his children Jeffrey (Ruth) Grover, Robert Steven Grover, Jeanne (Steven) Fowles and JoAnn (Tom) Visser; siblings Shirley Fagergren and George (Shirley) Grover; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, and a son Douglas Barton Grover.Morris was a highly intelligent and self-educated man with a passion for life. The family wishes to express deep appreciation and gratitude to all who lovingly cared for him during his brief stay at Silverado and the final three years of his life at the Utah Veterans Nursing Home. He loved all his caregivers and they returned the affection.Funeral services will be held Monday, January 9, 2012 at 2:00 pm, at the VA Nursing Home, 700 Foothill Blvd. Friends may call Sunday, Jan. 8thth at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, from 5:00-7:00 pm and Monday one hour prior to the service at the Nursing Home. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
