Maxine Connell ShorttJan. 21, 1916 ~ Jan. 1, 2012Our dear sweet Mother and Grandmother passed away on January 1, 2012 at her home in Sandy, Utah. She was born January 21, 1916 in Sigurd, Utah to William Connell and Angie Celestine Fisher. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas O. Shortt, parents William and Angie Connell, sisters, Beth C Ball and Beverly Jean Connell, brother Wayne Connell, 1 grandson and 3 great-grandchildren.Maxine married Thomas O. Shortt January 21, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. They resided in Murray, Utah for over 65 years. She was an active Latter Day Saints member. She served many callings in The Relief Society in the Winder 3rd Ward and Millcreek Stakes. Maxine was always willing to provide beautiful boutiques of flowers at Sunday services. She was a stay at home mom. When she was younger she worked at Keeley's in Provo, Utah and as a part time helper at Duffins Fine Candy Company. Maxine was a wonderful seamstress, homemaker and a phenomenal candy maker. Maxine taught her family to be independent and honest in everything that they did in life. She loved the Lord and especially her family and friends. She was always willing to help family and friends and to provide guidance and share her wisdom or thoughts.She is survived by daughter Marianne (John) Hainsworth, 5 grandchildren, Wendy Hanson, Holly (Kendal) Woodgate, Amanda (Daniel) Hendriksen, Patricia (Rich) Marcroft, Rhea Chapman, 11 great-grandchildren; Nieces, Pat (Andy) Farr, Carol (Boyd) Clark; Nephew, William (Jan) Clark, and her special companion Schatzee. She will be missed by all.A viewing will be held Sunday, January 8th from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah, and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Crescent 23rd Ward, 10375 South 650 East, Sandy, Utah, prior to funeral services at 11 a.m. Interment at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
