Richard (Dick) Eugene Vonk1940 ~ 2011A true gentleman passed away in his home surrounded by his family on December 30, 2011. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 12, 1940 to parents Dirk Arie and Henrietta Barten Vonk. Married Lee Ann Johnson Vonk on November 6, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. They survived their three children, Vivian Vonk Rogers, Erin (Robert) Wecker and Rick Vonk. Also survived by ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, brother, Raymond (Linda) and sister, Ruby Rasmussen. Preceded in death by parents, and sister, Shirley Moss. Dick and Lee Ann were called to serve as ordinance workers in the Draper Temple. A man with many talents, he loved singing (member of Beehive Statesman for 20+ years), sailing, woodworking and craftsman. He had a passion for Native American History. The family would like to express their gratitude to the many physicians, nurses, CNAs and others for all the help, kindness and quality of care they provided to Dick over the past several years. A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 5th from 6-8 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial, 3115 E. 7800 S., Cottonwood Heights. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 6th at 12 p.m., at the Granite 8th Ward, 9245 Quail Run Drive (2300 E), Sandy. Viewing one hour prior. Burial at the Mountain View Memorial Cemetery.
