FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Mike Smith's first meeting with his staff to discuss the Falcons' playoff game against the Giants included a review of Atlanta's preparation before losses in the coach's first two postseason games.

Smith said Monday it's important the Falcons learn from the losses after the 2008 and 2010 seasons. He says based on those lessons he is planning tweaks to the Falcons' practice this week for Sunday's game in New York.

The Falcons, who never enjoyed back-to-back winning seasons before Smith's arrival in 2008, now have four straight winning seasons and the team's first back-to-back playoff berths. The obvious missing piece in Smith's otherwise impressive record is a playoff win.

The Falcons had a first-round bye last year before losing to Green Bay.
