OGDEN — Hot shooting combined with a 13-0 run to start the second half helped the Utah Valley women's basketball team sweep the season series over the Wildcats (2-11) by beating Weber State 72-65.
For the game, UVU (6-5) shot 56 percent from the field compared to just 34-percent shooting by the Wildcats (2-11).
Four players finished in double figures for the Wolverines. Sammie Jensen led the way with 18 points while Jenna Johnson added 14 and both Abbie Beutler and Kaycee Mansfield each tallied 12 off the bench. Mansfield also finished with a game-high nine boards while Beutler dished out a game-high five assists.
Junior forward Shawnte Taylor and junior guard Megan Patterson each scored 15 points to lead Weber State. Taylor also added seven rebounds and two assist, while Patterson drained three 3-pointers.
Sophomore guard Justine Johnson added 10 points, and sophomore guard Laura Palmere had nine for the Wildcats, who will now have a five-day break for the holidays. Palmere also added a career-high four steals.
