WATERVILLE, Maine — About 70 people gathered in a Maine church in a candlelight vigil for a toddler who has been missing for nearly a week.
Danielle Bartz is a member of the First Congregational Church in Waterville and helped organize the vigil Wednesday afternoon. She says people are praying that Ayla Reynolds is warm and safe.
She told participants that "we gather tonight as a community living in hope."
Ayla was last seen Friday night when her father said he put her to bed. She was reported missing Saturday.
Authorities have been searching the area since then, combing through trash bins and even lowering the level of a stream.
