Alabama forward JaMychal Green (1) puts up a shot under pressure from Kansas State forward Thomas Gipson (42) during the second half of an NCAA college basketball game, Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, in Kansas City, Mo. Kansas State won the game 71-58.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama coach Anthony Grant still says playing a tough nonconference schedule will only make his team better.

It's not doing wonders for the Crimson Tide's won-loss record these days. Alabama goes into Wednesday night's game against Oklahoma State in Birmingham having lost three of its last four.

The Tide has fallen out of the polls after rising to a No. 12 ranking. Alabama has made just 11 of 61 3-pointers during those four games while averaging 59 points.

Then again, the losses have come to teams with a combined record of 24-5.

Grant's take is that, "Any time you play against quality competition, it can't do anything but help you."
