V. Owen Pickett1919 ~ 2011Our loving husband, dad, grandpa and brother, Owen Pickett, died Dec. 16, 2011. Born Dec. 25, 1919 in Gunnison, Utah to John Earl and Lettie LaVern Stevens Pickett. Married Mary Emma Ellen Parker March 23, 1946 in Norfolk, Virginia. Later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Served an LDS mission to the Southern States and faithfully served in any calling he was given. He also served in many civic groups in Riverton. Owen served in the US Army during World War II. He retired from Utah Power and Light. Owen enjoyed his garden, horses, outdoors and hunting, but his greatest love was his wife Mary who he adored.Survived by wife, children Caron (Hal) Withers of Monroe, Victor Pickett of West Jordan, Gaylen (Shannon) Pickett of South Weber and Kelvin Pickett of South Jordan; 20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and his siblings, Celia Jensen and Newell (Nola) Pickett all of Gunnison, Julina Christensen of Mayfield, Edith Tripp of Monroe and sister-in-law Verna Pickett of Stansbury Park.Preceded in death by siblings LaRue Hugoe, Beryl Christensen, David and Keith Pickett.Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the River Ridge 8th Ward 10191 So. 1000 W.
