Kathleen Jorgensen Young3/9/1930 ~ 12/12/2011Kathleen Jorgensen Young, 81, got her Christmas wish and joined her sweetheart, 'Brig' Young, on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011. Born Mar. 9, 1930 in Emery, UT to Nephi and Violet Jorgensen. Kathy met her sweetheart, Brig, at a baseball game following Brig's service in World War II. They were married and sealed for eternity in the Manti Temple on July 26, 1948. He died May 25, 2010.Growing up in Emery, Kathy loved memories of making taffy and climbing up to the 'rock house' for class picnics. Treasured evenings spent with Grandma Petty. Loved to quilt, crochet, make divinity candy, and anything else her children and grandchildren would like. Her family always looked forward to getting her bottles of homemade raspberry jam each Christmas. Mom was a good listener, the grandkids always knew they could talk things over with grandma and it would be better.Kathy loved to watch Utah Jazz and play board games with grandkids. Worked for O.C. Tanner and Hercules Powder Company. After dad retired, loved to spend winters in St. George. Grandkids looked forward to camping trips in the trailer with them. They started tradition of trips to Lake Powell. Stories were shared and fun memories made.Served in Relief Society & Primary Presidencies and loved times as visiting teacher. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Held special place in each of their hearts and will always be important part of who they are.Dad and mom served years as dance directors of their ward, teaching youth the cha cha, waltz, fox trot and polka and organizing dances. Always ended dances with band playing 'Sentimental Journey'. They loved to dance together and dad has been saving the last waltz for her for 2 years.Survived by children: Linda (Mike) Bringhurst, Delta; Jeff (Debbie) Young, Farmington, NM; Craig (Shanon) Young, Delta; siblings: Eldon (Shirley) Jorgensen; LaVee Haws; Cal (Gayle) Jorgensen; 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.Services: Saturday, Dec. 17, 11 AM, Delta 5th Ward, 125 S White Sage Ave. Viewings: Friday at Nickle Mortuary, 7-8 PM, and Saturday at church, 9:30-10:40 AM.
