SALT LAKE CITY — Utah guard Glen Dean, a transfer from Eastern Washington who is sitting out this season, underwent a brain operation Wednesday night.
Additional details were not immediately available, although university officials hope to provide an update later in the day.
Krystkowiak said that Dean experienced vision problems and had trouble standing up while lifting weights last week. He attended Saturday's game against BYU, but the bright lights and activity in the Huntsman Center led to a trip to the hospital before halftime. Dean was admitted and underwent a "bunch of tests" that led to surgery.
Dean, a 5-foot-10 guard from Seattle, led Eastern Washington in scoring and assists for two seasons before transferring to Utah.
