Harold Hyatt1924 ~ 2011Harold Hyatt, 87, passed away on December 12, 2011, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 2, 1924, the oldest son of Nathan Hyatt and Anna Haber. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology at Queens College in New York and did post-graduate work at Duke Marine Lab at the University of Washington. Dad married Mary Joyce Pratt on June 24, 1957, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles California Temple. He fought in World War II, serving in the Army both in Europe and in the Pacific. Dad was a marine biologist who loved animals of all kindsespecially his faithful pal and miracle dog, Rockyand he gave generously to many worthy causes. An avid hobbyist, he enjoyed model trains, planes, ships, and tanks, and crafted many authentic models from scratch. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Sally; sons, Martin, Victor, and William (Karen); sister, Yvette Kovary; brothers, Gilbert and Michael; and grandchildren, Miranda, Emily, Joshua, and Spencer.Funeral services will be held Friday, December 16, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Highland 3rd Ward, 9800 South Dunsinane Drive, South Jordan, Utah.
