Kim LeRoy McDonald1956 ~ 2011Kim LeRoy McDonald, 55, passed away December 12, 2011 in West Jordan, Utah due to cancer. Kim was born on March 3, 1956 to Ward L. and Beverly Nielson McDonald in San Diego, CA. He married Kristine Wankier on April 12, 2008. Kim graduated from American Fork High School and the University of Utah with a bachelor's degree in Anthropology. He worked at the Utah State Developmental Center and as a youth counselor for the State of Utah where he helped numerous individuals. He was also a member and sponsor of Narcotics Anonymous. Kim was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, collect arrowheads and enjoyed watching and playing all sports. He also bred and trained Irish Setters. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Kim had a wonderful way of making friends and relationships were very important to him. He loved to have a good time and was blessed with many people throughout his life that he loved to spend that time with. His greatest accomplishment in life was his children. Kim is survived by his wife, Kristine McDonald (West Jordan); mother, Beverly McDonald (American Fork); daughters Katie (Jason) Thurston (Warrington, FL); Kellian (Ryan) Valerio (La Salle, CO); Kjristen (Josh) Wilcox (Riverton, UT); Kimber McDonald (Alpine); step-children Michelle (Tristan) White (West Valley); Steven (Tunde) Swenson (West Jordan); Rebecca, Jared, Dylan Swenson (West Jordan); brothers Kevin (Becky) McDonald (American Fork); Kay (Jenny) McDonald (Australia); sister Kathy Draper (American Fork); and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Ward McDonald.We would like to thank all doctors, nurses, hospital staff and hospice workers involved in Kim's care. Funeral Services will be held Saturday December 17, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Park Stake Center, 4825 W 7000 S, West Jordan. Burial will follow at 2:30 that afternoon at the American Fork Cemetery (26 West 600 North). Viewing will be held Friday December 16, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary at 1007 West South Jordan Parkway (10400 South) and from 9:45 to 10:45 Saturday morning at the church building.
