Marilyn Fern Carlson Mitchell1945 ~ 2011I was born on April 16, 1945, the youngest daughter of Carl LaVar and Fern Prudence Powell Carlson, in Lehi, Utah. I grew up in Lehi and, later, in Orem, Utah, where I met my husband, Robert Bruce Mitchell I. We were sealed to each other for all eternity on June 7, 1968. I was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions. I served as Executive Director of the BYU Cougar Band Alumni Association for many years. I lectured for Weight Watchers, was Business Manger for Montessori School of Murray and Manager of Hancock Fabrics in Sandy. I worked most recently at JoAnn Fabrics. I was an active Scouter on local, district, and council levels. While my son was dancing, I helped at many studio performances and dance competitions. I learned and taught dimensional embroidery, and wrote and published several instruction books. I was preceeded in death by my parents and my beloved grandson, Kaleb. I leave behind my good husband, who was with me in my illness, my beloved son and his wife, Rob (Robert Bruce II) and Carisa, my beloved grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brynbdi and Ayden, my brother, Bert Carlson (Leanna), my sister, LaRane Cordova and a wonderful extended family. I fought the good fight, won every battle, and gave the winner of the war a hollow victory. I am at peace. I love you all. Please come say goodbye to me at my farewell on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 11 am, with viewings the evening before from 5-8 pm and one hour before the farewell at Mt. Jordan LDS 6th Ward chapel, 9335 South 300 East, Sandy.
