William Norris Erickson1918 ~ 2011William (Bill) N. Erickson passed away on November 6th of natural causes incident to age. Bill was born June 12, 1918 in Salt Lake City to Foster Norris and Eva Larson and was raised by his mother and stepfather, Joseph Erickson.Bill is survived by his wife, and best friend, Beth Johnson Erickson, and they had celebrated seventy-two years together this year on September 30th. Bill graduated from South High School and managed theaters in both Salt Lake, and Southern California. He served his country as a member of the 4th Division of the U.S. Marine Corps, including thirty days in the battle of Iwo Jima. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Bill retired from Mountain Fuel after twenty-five years, and was a member of the LDS church. Throughout his life he was happiest when hiking the trails of Southern Utah with Beth and friends, especially Capital Reef and the San Rafael Swell. He loved looking for unique rocks that he would later cut and polish in his lapidary shop. Bill was a devoted husband, and enjoyed attending music and sports events for his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.He is also survived by his son, Bill Erickson (Mary Ann) and daughter, Jan Smith (Gregg), four grandchildren, Heidi Aldridge (Randy), Gavin Erickson (Heather), Jonathan Hess (Laura), Heather West (Chris) and five great-grandchildren, Jackson, Tyson, Jane, Max and Ada. Preceded in death by his sister Helen Bernard and brother Robert Erickson, both of Southern California.A private graveside service was held for family members on November 10th. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens. The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the staff at Aspire Hospice and The Wellington, for the care and friendship they extended to Dad these past months.
