Shirley Marie Engman age 79, returned to her Heavenly Father, November 2, 2011.Shirley was born on October 5,1932 in Salt Lake City to Frank and Hilda "Pat" G. Flachman Moody. At the curious age of 4, Shirley was saved from a near drowning by her friend and neighbor, Harold B. Lee. Her love of nature and wildlife continued throughout her life. Shirley was athletic, studious and a top vocal soloist in many school plays. Her favorite being her performance in The Song of Norway. Her warm smile, patience, compassion and considerate ways enabled her to serve others with kindness and love in her Church and Community. Shirley was a telephone operator and president of both the Primary and PTA. She was filled with joy when asked to join the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Shirley married Arthur August Engman in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Sept. 24, 1953. Together they traveled, worked hard, experienced joy and pain, met with health and sickness, facing all with faith and courage. Shirley had a zeal for life. Her greatest love was reserved for her entire family, each member holding a unique place in her heart. Her positive attitude lives on and her shining example will always remain in our hearts.She is survived by her children; Scott, Lynette and Corey; adored grandchildren; brother, Duane Peterson and sister Carol Secrist. Preceded in death by her husband, Art; her parents and brother Jerry Peterson. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2011, Noon at the Grandeur Peak Ward, 3610 East, 3510 South, SLC, Utah. Friends may call one hour prior at the Church and also on Monday evening, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive.
