G. Bertie Maudsley"Together Again"G. Bertie Maudsley, our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away October 17, 2011 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Bertie was born December 30, 1927 in El Paso, Texas to Vivian W. and Gladys Houston Bentley. She attended Brigham Young University for three years and then went on to graduate from the University of Utah in the School of Elementary Education, continuing on to complete many hours of graduate work. She married Madison W. Moffat on August 24, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. The marriage ended in August of 1968. By this marriage she had three children, a son and two daughters. On January 5, 1973 she married her eternal companion, Wells S. Maudsley in the Provo LDS Temple. Together they enjoyed 38 years together. Bertie loved music, theater, reading, aerobics, gardening, painting, and history. She taught elementary school for 17 years, grades two through six, with special interest in history, grades five and six. She loved people, was active in the LDS church where she held many positions including executive, musical, and teaching responsibilities.Bertie is survived by a son, Thomas M. Moffat (Ling), two daughters, Kathleen L. Morones (Edward), and Sherrie M. West (Thomas); step-children Steve Maudsley, Sue McMillin and Christian Maudsley, and a brother Robert H. Bentley. She had five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband Wells, sister Viva Fisk and brother, Vance Bentley. Funeral services will held on Friday October 21, 2011 12:00 noon at the Garden Heights Ward, 2220 East Fisher Lane (2935 South). Friends may visit with the family on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Friday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to services.
