GENEVA — Ivory Coast forward Gervinho provided the inspiration for the African side's 4-3 victory against Israel in a friendly on Wednesday.

Arsenal's main offseason signing set up powerful right-foot strikes by Yaya Toure in the 44th minute and Didier Konan Ya in first-half stoppage time.

Substitute Moussa Kone made it 3-0 in the 69th connecting with Max Gradel's cross.

Israel substitute Itay Shechter broke clear to pull one back in the 76th. Three minutes later, another Israeli substitute Maor Melikson's deflected shot deceived Ivorian goalkeeper Boubacar Barry.

Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba converted an 81st-minute penalty to restore his side's two-goal lead, before Melikson's penalty in the 87th completed the scoring.
