Dona Blanche Reid Davis 1927 ~ 2011Comment on this story
Blanche Reid Davis slipped peacefully back into the arms of her eternal sweetheart, Donald Henry Davis, on the second of July, 2011, at the age of 83.Dona was born on April 21, 1928 in Bingham Canyon, Utah, the eldest daughter of Donald G. and Rebecca Blanche Kenner Reid. She married the love of her life, Donald Henry Davis, on April 11, 1947. They were sealed together for time and for all eternity on May 29, 1979 in the Salt Lake Temple. Dona is survived by four of her five children: Donald Davis (Tami), Carolyn Bush (Bill), Ronald Davis (Lisa) and Marilyn Frazier (Gary), as well as a worthy posterity of 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Dona is preceded in death by her sweetheart, Donald Henry Davis; her darling baby daughter, Linda Lee Davis, who died after living just six precious months; and her sister, Jean Reid Bishop. Dona was a graduate of the old Bingham High School where she was the Valedictorian of her senior class. She attended Utah State University and then became a beloved wife and mother which became her crowning glory. She was a master storyteller. She delighted in all of nature... flowers, birds and butterflies of every variety were always welcome in her gardens. She served faithfully in the LDS church in many callings and found great joy in serving her community in the Utah PTA throughout her children's growing years and as a Registrar of Elections for many years. Mother had a great love for her country and was the wife of a World War II Veteran, who served his country valiantly in the U.S. Navy. Mother loved to dream of traveling the world and was able to see those dreams come true when she traveled to England with Dad, and then to China in 2004. Mother found great joy in her association with her many friends, including the members of the Hungry Hannah Club, with whom she met for lunch every other week for many years. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate Dona's life on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Midvale 5th Ward Chapel on 8171 S. Jackson St., Midvale, UT. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT.
