Jerry Everett Nelson 1936 ~ 2011

Jerry Everett Nelson, Storytelling Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on June 14, 2011, at age 74. He was born Dec. 11, 1936 in Murray, UT to Earl Nelson and Erma Margaret Menlove. Married Roberta Ann MacDonald on March 27, 1959, later solemnized in the S.L. Temple. He served in the U.S. Navy 1955-1959, was a Journeyman Machinist at EIMCO for 40 yrs. He served as Bishop, Bishopric Counselor, and High Priest group leader as well as on seven Stake Missions for the L.D.S. Church. He had a powerful Testimony of his Savior and it showed in all aspects of his life. He is survived by his wife, Roberta; children, Jerry (Cheryl), David, Bobbi, Ruth (Terry), Mary (Tracy), Heather, Sean (Debbie); 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grand-children; siblings, Jesse (Carol), Barbara, Earl (Joan), Maxine, Paul (Pat). Preceded in death by son, Peter; parents; and stepfather, Jim Condie; siblings, Jack and Maryann Paxton, Betty Wilson, Jim Condie. There will be a viewing Sunday, June 19th, 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State, Midvale. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 20th at the Union 3rd Ward, 6710 S. 1300 E. at 11 a.m., with a viewing one hour prior to the funeral services. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
