Reed Robert Maxfield "Ah- Hey- Hey"

Reed Robert Maxfield, age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2011.He was born May 23, 1922 in Union, Utah to Ellis and Lavera Maxfield, who taught him the value of hard work. He was sealed for time and all eternity to his sweetheart, Mildred Smith, on October 1, 1942 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. He "met her when she was 17, kissed her when she was 18, and married her when she was 19." Reed spent most of his life as a businessman and a rancher. He worked on the railroad as a brakeman as well as being the president of: Uinta Finance, Uinta Insurance Co., The Industrial State Bank, and The Hunting Club. Reed was also a World War II Veteran of the Army Air Corps. As a devoted member of the LDS Church he served in the Jordan River Temple for five years. Reed loved hunting, fishing, horses, and spending time with his family. Reed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; five sons (and their wives), Roger (Linda), Monty (Chele), Roland (Kathie), Nathan (Janet), Austin (Dawn); brother, Linden; sister, Donna Dahl; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters; Neva Jane Maxfield, Dorothy Coulter, Susan Hone; and granddaughter, Desiree Maxfield. The viewing will take place on Friday, June 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Sat., June 11, with viewing at 10 a.m and funeral at 11 a.m. at the Union Park Fourth Ward, 7500 S. 700 E., Midvale, Utah.
