Drea Kern Newey Lambert, 81, died April 26, 2011 in San Leandro, California. She was born August 31, 1929 in Ogden Utah, the first daughter of Horace H. Kern and Velma Olson Kern. She attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High in 1947. She worked in the family restaurant, Kern's Café, while growing up. Later, she worked many years at her brother-in-law's flooring business, the Carpet Barn in Salt Lake City. She married Harold Newey in 1948 then later divorced. She married CeeJay Lambert in 1987. Drea and CeeJay were active with AA in Salt Lake City. After CeeJay died in 2007, Drea moved to San Leandro, California, to be near her daughter and primary caregiver, Valerie. Drea is survived by her children, Valerie Newey Tigert (Bob) of San Leandro; Barbara Newey Grant of Baltimore, Maryland; and Lynn Newey (Chris) of Salt Lake City. Drea had four grandchildren, Tonia Erin (Ann), Jeffery Tigert (Christina), Melissa Grant, and Sara Ormsby (Dan); and one great-grand-daughter, Evelyn Rose Tigert; two sisters, Harla Kern Macqueen (Ken) of Salt Lake City; and Patricia Kern Cahoon (Cliff) of North Logan, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one grandson. Drea adored all her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She always remembered their birthdays and holidays by sending cards with two dollar bills. Drea had a deep love of reading, a quick wit and constant smile. She was a great friend to many people. Her spirit and true heart remain a constant inspiration to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed and always remembered.
