Lois Washburn Ballard "A Friend to All"

Comment on this story

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully of natural causes on March 31, 2011 at the age of 82. She was born on October 24, 1928 in a log cabin located in Salmon, Idaho to Ivan Ross and Rhoda Thompson Washburn. She married Andrew "Andy" Ballard on June 24, 1949 in Draper, Utah. They had 47 years together until his passing on March 4, 1996. Lois began working for I.F.A. at the young age of 16 in the sack room, and then later as a secretary, where she made many friends. Lois is remembered for her sweetness, her love, and her contagious sense of humor and she touched many lives. Lois had a great love for music, flowers, and most of all her family. Lois had a beautiful singing voice and was an avid member of the "Sweet Adeline's Chorus" for 15 years. She is a member of the LDS Church and sang in the Ward Choir. Lois will be greeted in Heaven by Andy, her parents, her twin brother Lewis, brothers, Jay, Hugh, and Dale, sister, Carol, and son-in-law Gary Mauchley. She will be missed by her children: Linda (Dale) Pace, Kayleen (Byron) Andrus, Marsha Mauchley, Laura L. Ballard, and Jeffrey A. Ballard; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Klea (Walt) Bowers and Judy Sutcliffe. She always set a good example and has left a great legacy for her family. Our family would like to express a special thanks to Symbii Hospice and all the staff of the Bee Hive Home of Draper.
