Richard (Dick) Brown 1947 ~ 2011

Comment on this story

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at his ranch doing what he loved. The cows were fed, the gates were shut, his boots were on and his dog was by his side. The loves of his life were his wife of 42 years, his family, horses, dogs, his cows and the ranch. Dick was born on February 27, 1947 to Zelma and Darrel Brown in Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up in Riverton, Utah and graduated from Bingham High School in 1965. He attended college at Utah State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Sherie Wood, on September 27, 1968. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Dick enjoyed spending time with his family hunting pheasants and deer. He also spent many quality hours of target practice and trap shooting with his wife, kids, and grandkids. Many special memories were made during these times spent together. Dick farmed in Riverton and Draper for 40 years. In 1995, Dick and Sherie bought a ranch and moved their family to Pine Valley, Nevada. It was there that he was able to fulfill his dream of owning and operating a cattle ranch and his smile grew bigger every day. Spring was one of Dick's favorite times of the year, when calves were born, and family and good neighbors gathered together for branding. Dick is survived by his loving wife, Sherie. Four children; Mandi (Wade) Garrett, Jed (Angelique) Brown, Shawn (Terrilynn) Brown, Andrew (Katie) Brown. Eight grandchildren; brother Bob (Marsha) Brown, Sandy Utah; sister MarJean (Gus) Boyd, Las Vegas, Nevada. He is preceded in death by his parents. Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor and will be missed by all who knew him.
