Richard David Wyss Poppy

Richard David Wyss, age 85, beloved husband, father, grand-father, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully January 26, 2011, surrounded by family, following a short illness. He was born September 3, 1925 in Salt Lake City to Emil Herman and Sigrid Berntsen Wyss. Richard grew up in Salt Lake graduating from South High School. After briefly attending the University of Utah he was drafted into the United States Army, serving four years in Europe in the Signal Corp. Graduating in accounting from the University of Utah, Richard then worked for Pratt and Lambert and Utah Power and Light. Richard married Erveen Rawlings June 17, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They enjoyed 53 wonderful years together and he looked forward to being with his beloved wife again. Richard served as Bishop and in many other callings in the LDS church. He and Erveen were blessed to serve a mission together in the Forest Dale Ward in Salt Lake. Richard worked with and touched the lives of many young people. Richard is survived by his three children; Ann Granato (Samuel), Richard Wyss (Arlene), and Tracey Lash (Stephen), ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one brother, and one sister. He was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Erveen, his parents, one brother and one sister. Dad was loved by all who knew him. He was especially close to his grandchildren and great-grand-children, attending all special events. His life was dedicated to serving others. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 4, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Olympus 5th Ward Chapel, 3510 South 3640 East. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the ward building.
