BYU's Chris Collinsworth looks to make a pass around Brandon Rowe, of the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds, during a mens basketball game at the Marriott Center in Provo on Saturday, January 1, 2011.

PROVO — BYU coach Dave Rose said Monday that sophomore forward Chris Collinsworth is out for the rest of the season after undergoing a knee scope last Friday.

Collinsworth has a small crack in the cartilage that will require microfracture surgery. Rehab will take 3-4 months.

"We feel bad for Chris, but we're optimistic about his ability to heal and return," Rose said. "We'll apply for a medical hardship and hopefully get a fifth year for him."
