Christ United to host dodgeball tourneys

The fourth annual Youth Community Dodgeball Tournaments at Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 E. 3300 South, will be Saturday, Jan. 8.

The Junior High (6th-8th grades) Tournament will be at noon

The Senior High (9th-12th grades) Tournament will be at 4 p.m.

Teams consist of six members of the same age group with at least one girl on each team. Registration deadline is Sunday.

Cost is $5 per participant.

Canyons Church offers sports league

"Upward Sports" at Canyons Church (formerly Southeast Baptist Church), 1700 E. 7000 South, will focus on healthy competition, sportsmanship, skills building and fun versus the "win-at-all-costs" mentality found in many sports leagues.

Every participant must attend one basketball evaluation to play, and the first one will be Saturday, Jan. 8, 9 a.m.-noon for grades kindergarten through second grade; and 1-4 p.m. for grades 3-6.

Canyon Church is offering breakfast

There will be another "Monthly Men's Breakfast" at Canyons Church, 1700 E. 7000 South, on Saturday, Jan. 15, 7 a.m.

This is a time for men to get together, eat breakfast and share from the Word. They meet in the Life Center every third Saturday. This year's theme is "Becoming a Man of God," with practical devotions at each meeting.

A "Men's Breakfast" will be today, 8-10 a.m., at Calvary Chapel. 460 W. Century Drive.

The event will also include a Bible study.

A "Prime Timers" gathering, for people age 50 and over, will be Saturday, Jan. 22, 6-7 p.m. at the Calvary Coffee Shop, 460 W. Century Drive.

Southeast Baptist is now Canyons Church

Southeast Baptist Church has changed its name to Canyons Church.

Southeast church members voted to become known as the Canyons Church in a special business meeting held on Nov. 14.

Located at 1700 E. 7000 South, only the name has changed. All programs and the church family remains the same.

Conference Center to host Winterfest

Winterfest 2011 will be presented at the LDS Conference Center Theater, Jan. 21-Feb. 19 at various times.

It will bring nationally and internationally acclaimed BYU performing groups to Salt Lake City, with performances by BYU's Wind Symphony and Chamber Orchestra, the Ballroom Dance Company, Vocal Point, Living Legends (formerly Lamanite Generation), and the International Folk Dance Ensemble.

A perpetual adoration chapel is available at St. Joseph Catholic Parish, 506 24th St., Ogden, 24 hours each day.

Time can be spent in silent prayer before the blessed sacrament each day.

Krishna temple soon to mark 10 years

SPANISH FORK — It has been almost 10 years since the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple opened in Spanish Fork.

Since it opened on June 23, 2001, almost 400,000 tourists have visited it. It has hosted 80 major festivals and performed 300 "pujas" (housewarmings).

Radio Krishna broadcasts 24 hours a day over the Internet, and the Krishna website, www.utahkrishnas.org, is accessed by some 500 visitors a day.

Catholic Mass at Our Lady of the Snows

Catholic Mass is celebrated each Sunday, 5 p.m., at Our Lady of the Snows Chapel at Alta Ski Resort.

Located directly behind the Alta Ski Lodge, Mass will be celebrated throughout the 2010-2011 ski season, as it has been done there for more than 40 years.
