Arlene Cottrell Nichols 9/2/1922 ~ 12/17/2010

Arlene Cottrell Nichols passed away peacefully December 17, 2010, causes incident to age. She will be remembered always for her jubilant laughter - the life of every gathering, and love of life and family. She was born the third child of William Alvin and LaVon Sadler Cottrell on September 2, 1922, Salt Lake City, Utah. Arlene grew up in Draper, Utah, graduating from Jordan High School. She attended the Salt Lake L.D.S. Business College and worked in various positions during World War II. On March 3, 1944, she married Herbert B. Nichols in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. They made their home in Draper, Utah. In 1953 they relocated to the Murray, Utah, area. Three children blessed their lives. Arlene worked at Walker Bank for many years enjoying her association with employees and friends. As a member of the L.D.S. Church she served in many leadership positions -- Primary, Junior Sunday School, Young Women, and Relief Society. She will be best remembered for her service with her husband as they worked side by side serving and loving others. Arlene is survived by her three children: Francene (Kenneth) Spencer, Chad Dannell (Debbie) Nichols, and Dwight Arlyn (Bobbie Jo) Nichols, nephew Henry (Colleen) Ashby, St. Anthony, ID, nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the caring staff of Sandy Regional Health Center for their dedicated service to Mom for the past year and a half. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 20, 2010 at 12 Noon at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. So. Jordan Pkwy (10600 S.), South Jordan, Utah. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Monday. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S. In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made to the LDS Church Humanitarian Fund. Condolences may be sent to the family at
