Trial is scheduled July 7 for a Sunset man charged with three counts of sexual abuse of a child.

Vernon M. Personett, 29, 1938 N. 75 West, pleaded not guilty to two of the charges and did not enter a plea to the third, resulting in 2nd District Judge Douglas L Cornaby entering a not guilty plea for him.

Personett's attorney, Don Sharp, advised him not to enter the third plea, saying there is a question about whether the charge should have been bound over for trial after Personett's preliminary hearing in Clearfield 2nd Circuit Court.

Sharp said he has asked for a tape recording of the hearing but has not received one yet.

Personett is charged with sexually abusing a 9- and a 6-year-old girl between July 1987 and February of this year in Sunset, according to court documents.
