Southern Utah State College student Darin Bird is the newly elected chairman of the Utah Council of Student Body Presidents, the governing board of the Utah Student Association.

Two other SUSC students, junior communications major Nicki Kapos and transfer student Karl Rostron, are serving in other association positions.

Bird, the 1988-89 SUSC student body president, was elected chairman at meetings held recently in St. George. The council consists of student body presidents from each of Utah's 11 public and private colleges and universities and several ex-officio members.

Kapos is one of three appointees to the Utah Student Lobby, the association's lobbying arm. Rostron is governor of the Utah Intercollegiate Assembly, which serves in a legislative advisory capacity to the association.
