The automotive team of Rick Bartschi and David Hester from Mountain Crest High School in Hyrum found the bugs, fixed them and went on to fame as winners of the 1988 Utah Plymouth-AAA Trouble Shooting Contest.
The contest was held at Salt Lake Community College and involved Mountain Crest, Viewmont (econd place), Cottonwood (hird place), Davis, Cyprus, Hillcrest, Weber, Provo, Skyline and Woods Cross high schools. Cottonwood's auto-fixers placed first in the written contest.
The Mountain Crest team also will go to the National Trouble Shooting Contest. Student participants become eligible for SLCC scholarships, tuition waivers and automotive equipment for their schools.
The contest helps to place competent high school students in the market as auto mechanics.
