Awhile back, some were bemoaning the fact that the Fairpark is little used — apart from the State Fair — and pointed out that it has such a convenient location. With a wide stretch of the Jordan River running along its west side, this would be an ideal location to create a San Antonio-style River Walk, with ethnic boutiques lining its banks and a barge taking people for a short cruise up the river to the Peace Park. And if combined with an equestrian park, that might even justify keeping open a few midway rides to entertain families before dinner or on weekends.

With all the attention being given to Salt Lake Rising and the development of City Creek Center, seems to me some attention should be paid to developing this valuable and accessible piece of real estate, which already belongs to the state.
