Logan quarterback impresses at camp

Logan quarterback Jeff Manning did more than just hold his own at "Football University," an invitation-only camp for youth and high school football players last weekend. He worked closely with instructor Larry Kennan, a former NFL offensive coordinator who has worked as an instructor to pro stars Eli Manning, Tony Romo and Drew Brees.

"Jeff has prototypical quarterback size, good footwork and a very strong arm," Kennan said. "He worked diligently to quicken his release by the end of the FBU weekend. He should keep working the small things — techniques — and he'll have a very bright future."

Oly wins tourney

Members of the Olympus Titans' boys basketball team won a big AAU tournament last week. They defeated the Oakland Cougars 65-52 in the championship game of the Bay Area Basketbrawl. The Titans won four games en route to the championship. The team consisted of Joey Bourne, Connor Brady, Corbin Green, Adam Mahas, Nicholas Paulos, Sam Spafford and Will Watkins.

"Whoever won that game still has control of their own destiny. Whoever lost that game still has to depend on other people to make things happen, so that was huge for us." — Lone Peak soccer coach Dave Woolley, on his team's 1-0 win over Timpanogos in Region 4 action on Tuesday.
