KAYSVILLE — Boondocks Fun Center, a family entertainment enterprise, is coming to town soon.

The company plans to build a facility on 10 acres at 500 S. Deseret Drive.

"We plan on doing a facility similar to Draper," Randy Fullmer, CEO of Boondocks, said. "It will be a good fit for Kaysville."

There are no specific dates for groundbreaking or completion yet, but he said Boondocks chose Kaysville because it was a good geographical location.

Boondocks will be building on the west side of I-15, just south of Deseret Mills.

The fun centers boast there's "something for everybody."

Fullmer said outdoors, Boondocks will have two go-kart tracks (a rookie course and a slick track), 36 holes of miniature golf, bumper boats and batting cages. Inside, there will be 20 lanes of bowling; a large arcade with more than 120 games; a laser tag arena and a 3-D motion theater.

Boondocks will also have a corporate events center and a restaurant, the Back Porch Grill, serving pizza, hamburgers, sandwiches, salads and deserts.

The Draper Boondocks, 75 E. Southfork Drive, is on 8.5 acres, so the Kaysville facility will be slightly larger.

Fullmer said there's no admission fee to Boondocks. The costs are for the activities and the food, depending on what patrons want to do. Current unlimited fun tickets at the Draper Boondocks range from $16.95 to $24.95. Individual activities vary from $2-$7 each. Boondocks also sponsors discount nights. Birthday parties cost $9.95 a person and up.

Fullmer said Boondocks is different than a traditional amusement park, like Lagoon, in that the average stay is only two to four hours. Boondocks hosts a lot of birthday parties.

The company is also well-known for updating and rotating each facility's features to keep them fresh.

Boondocks started in Meridian, Idaho, just north of Boise, in 1988. Fullmer said that first Boondocks was just sold. However, besides the Draper Boondocks, there's another in Northglenn, Colo., just north of Denver.

"We plan on more locations," Fullmer said, explaining that another northern Colorado Boondocks is also being planned.

The Draper Boondocks was honored last November as the Top Family Entertainment Center in the world by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions.
