LOGAN — A training helicopter owned by Utah State University crashed Friday afternoon at Logan-Cache Airport.

Logan City Police Capt. Eric Collins said that Charles Larsen, a 71-year-old instructor, was demonstrating maneuvers for a student group on the tarmac and was barely off the ground when a wind gust tipped the craft, causing a rotor blade to hit the ground and flip the helicopter. Neither Larsen nor any of the students were injured in the incident.

Collins said the helicopter sustained heavy damage but because no one was injured, the incident would not require further investigation by his department or the Federal Aviation Administration.
