MIDVALE — Two taggers were caught in the act Wednesday night and arrested.

Midvale police received a call of a couple of men spray-painting graffiti on top of the roof of a business. When officers arrived at the business complex near 7000 South and 200 West, they set up containment around the building, and then managed to get a police K9 on the roof, said Midvale Police Sgt. John Salazar.

When the officer announced he was about to release the police dog, two men came out from hiding behind an air conditioning unit and surrendered, he said.

Two cans of spray paint were found near the men. They told police they were not gang members but rather affiliated with an "organization of taggers," Salazar said.

The South Jordan men, ages 18 and 19, also had drugs in their pockets. They were arrested for investigation of criminal mischief, vandalism and drug possession.
