Both our Utah senators (though good men) rate a great big lemon for opposing the compromise immigration reform bill in this last Congress. The bill would have provided a re-enforcing of our borders to stop the flow of illegals and a worker pass system with some penalized path to citizenship for those on whose backs part of our economy has ridden for years. We should be roundly ashamed of our fellow Republicans. President Bush, Congressman Chris Cannon and others deserve garlands for a valiant effort.

Now we're stuck with the endless controversy over the flow of illegals, the fears that Latinos are somehow taking over, and mistaken fears they are costing us more than they pay in unrecovered Social Security withholdings.
