As Utahns raced to beat the April 15 tax deadline, officials issued a $25,000 warrant Tuesday for a Layton man accused of years of tax evasion.

Michael R. Park, 50, is accused of racketeering and failing to file proper state income tax returns from as far back as 2001, according to a statement from the Utah State Tax Commission.

Park, one of three principals in a company that owned several pizza restaurants in the Salt Lake area, collected sales tax and income tax from employees and then failed to remit them to the state, according to the commission.

Officials said the man failed to pay more than $100,000 in taxes.
