LAYTON — A Utah company is chipping in to help pay for the expansion of a California burn center.

The Layton-based Logistic Specialities Inc. presented a check for $8,000 to the UC Davis Regional Burn Center on Monday. The donation, which will help the new facility buy equipment and supplies, represented the proceeds from a charity golf tournament held in October.

"We felt it (the tournament) would be a great vehicle for generating funds to be dispersed annually to benefit the brave men and women who have been injured during their duties of fighting wildland fires," Logistic Specialties CEO Sean Slatter said.

This is the fourth year LSI has hosted the charity tournament, raising more than $25,000 for the center.
