"To gather the strength from within to endure" is the theme of a Medicine Man/Spiritual Advisor Symposium today through Saturday at Salt Lake Community College, 4600 S. Redwood Road.

The symposium includes a Native American Film Series and Spiritual Walk/Run and 5K Traditional Race.

Today, there will be an Indian Taco Sale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the east patio of the Student Center. There also will be a symposium on "Ceremonial Use of Tobacco" at 1:30 p.m. at TB203, and a viewing of the film "Spirits for Sale" at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday, the film "Lady Warriors" will be shown at 1:30 and 6:30 p.m., in TB203.

On Saturday, registration for the 5K opens at 6:30 a.m. at the SLCC Ampitheater. There will be an opening ceremony featuring a Lakota Pipe Ceremony, Hopi Blessing and Spiritual Run/Walk. The 5K Traditional Race starts at 8:30 a.m. There will also be a viewing of "Hopi Run For Water" at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Student Event Center. For More information, call 801-928-1652.
