KEARNS — An unattended stove set a house on fire that resulted in nearly $80,000 in damages Saturday afternoon.

Just after 12 p.m., firefighters responded to the home, near 5900 South and 6000 West. They were able to contain the blaze before the home was a total loss, but smoke and water caused extensive damages, according to Ben Sharer, spokesman for the Unified Fire Authority.

No one was injured in the fire and residents were able to make it outside of the home safely.
