Two men have been charged in connection with a gold and jewelry heist at a Salt Lake business.
The men, from Mexico, were charged Tuesday in 3rd District Court with aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping, both first-degree felonies, for the March 25 robbery at Pueblitos Accessories, 876 W. 800 South.
The men, 34 and 31, walked into the business and held up a woman at gunpoint, tying her up and threatening to kill her family if she told police, according to a probable cause affidavit filed with the charges. The men took about $40,000 in gold and jewelry, police say.
A Utah Highway Patrol trooper spotted empty jewelry boxes being dumped from a car near Delle, Tooele County. Police said the men were arrested and about half of the stolen gold and jewelry was recovered.
