Aim high

Do you burn to be in the middle of the action? Dream of working with top-level athletes? Are you looking for an exciting career in the world of sports management?

The Intermountain Sports and Entertainment Career Fair is today at EnergySolutions Arena.

Among the organizations interviewing: Real Salt Lake, the University of Utah, Orem Flash, Orem Owlz, Salt Lake Bees, Utah Grizzlies, Utah Blaze, LHM Motorsports, Utah State University, Southern Utah University and the Jazz.

So if you're still looking for a job, Barry Bonds, get your registration in, ASAP.

Job avoidance

It should be noted that Bonds already has one job offer.

The Lake Elsinore (Calif.) Storm says the position of director of media relations is his, if he wants it. Among the perks are use of the facilities, an expanded locker cubicle, an easy chair and plasma TV.

"We just think the way he has handled the media with such grace over the years that he would be a perfect fit in our media relations department," said general manager aide Chris Jones.

Fine. Just as long as they don't offer him job as a personal trainer.

The works

Pizza Hut announced last week it would donate 300,000 slices of pizza to any No. 16-seeded school to beat a No.1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

That has never happened — and didn't happen this year, either, as Mount St. Mary's, Portland State, UT-Arlington and Mississippi Valley State lost their first-round games by an average of 32 points.

Which raises two main questions. First, how long does this promotion last? And second, don't most college students eat 300,000 slices of pizza during tournament time, anyway?

On the road again

Denver Nuggets' forward Kenyon Martin has kept his driver's license, despite being ticketed for going 101 mph in a 30-mph zone and 103 in a 55 zone.

Martin, you'll recall, left the March 5 game against the Jazz with a mild concussion. Said he was experiencing headaches and nausea.

Same symptoms Rock On experienced upon learning K-Mart is still driving.

Get the glow

LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers star, is on a new cover.

This time it's the April edition of Vogue, where he is seen posing with model Gisele Bundchen.

King James doesn't appear at all uncomfortable being in a women's magazine, though he did report a strange urge to buy Oil of Olay.

The winning edge

The Associated Press reports German billiards champion Alex Buescher has been stripped of his title for blood doping.

Seems he tested positive for an EPO masking agent usually associated with cycling.
