OGDEN — A man accused of strangling a baby girl with a sock has struck a plea deal with prosecutors.

Trevor Thomas Grover, 28, pleaded guilty in 2nd District Court Tuesday to first-degree felony murder. In exchange, Weber County prosecutors dropped a child abuse charge.

Court records indicate prosecutors agreed to write a letter to the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole, recommending that Grover serve no more than 17 years in prison for the crime.

Grover will be sentenced April 24 for the death of 3-month-old Arouralee Randles, who was the daughter of Grover's former girlfriend. Police were called to a home in Washington Terrace in November 2006 on a child found not breathing. The baby later died at a hospital.
