ST. GEORGE — Nick Killpack wasn't going to let his second chance to win the UGA Winterchamps get away.

After losing Winterchamps last year by one point in the modified Stableford scoring system, the BYU junior left little doubt this year. Killpack finished with a two-round total of 86 points to win by seven points over Lance Richards and eight points over John Busby, Bob Smart and Jeff Holmes.

In Round 1, played Saturday in sunny but cool conditions at Coral Canyon Golf Course, Killpack used six birdies to score a tournament-high 46 points. On Sunday, in blustery conditions at Bloomington Country Club, Killpack birdied three of the first five holes to take a big lead and coasted from there — finishing with four birdies and two bogeys on the day.

"This was a tournament that I really wanted to win," Killpack said.

Annette Gaiotti, with rounds of 33 and 40 points respectively, won the women's title. Gaiotti entered Sunday's final round at Coral Canyon trailing Jodi White by two points but scored five more points than White on Sunday to win by three.

The senior division title went to Kurt Bernhisel, who scored 35 and 42 points, good enough to edge Steve Poulsen by two and Todd Barker by four. Bernhisel also had to come from behind, trailing both Poulsen and Barker going into Sunday's final round.
