If the Deseret Morning News wants to print stories about sexual predators and political sex scandals, that's fine. But Sunday columns by Jay Evensen and Joe Cannon (March 16), taking the opportunity to bemoan our supposedly sex-obsessed culture, threw the baby out with the bath water. Or, to be more literal, they want to keep the baby and throw out the romance, love, passion and pleasure that lead to it. They claim to be in favor of sex (at least within the context of marriage), but their grouping of perfectly healthy sexual activities — or even references to them — with the most heinous crimes and holding them up as evidence of widespread depravity indicates how they really feel.

Far from being obsessed, perhaps if our culture were less repressed we could treat the subject more rationally than with smutty innuendos on television sitcoms.
