Salt Lake City police are searching for a black, two-door vehicle that struck a 16-year-old girl Wednesday near 1700 N. Morton Drive, which is just east of I-215, at about 7 p.m.
The driver fled, leaving the victim lying in the road. The girl is still recovering from the injuries, according to a police press release.
The victim told police the vehicle was traveling west on 1700 North from the area of Redwood Road when it hit her. She described the car as having a low body profile and said it did not have tinted windows and the exhaust system did not seem to be modified.
The car had a Utah centennial front license plate and there was chrome-colored molding around the windshield and driver's door. The vehicle was described as being in good condition but not new. Police expect the vehicle to have damage to the driver's side of the grill and/or hood.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-3000.
