For only the second time in program history, the No. 1 BYU men's volleyball team (17-1, 12-1) swept No. 9 UCLA (13-10, 8-7) in three sets on Thursday at Pauley Pavilion (30-25, 30-27, 30-27). Senior All-American middle blocker Russell Holmes led the BYU attack with an .846 hitting percentage. The Cougars have now won the last nine sets against the Bruins dating back to back-to-back sweeps in the 2007 season in Provo. Holmes recorded a team-best 11 kills and three blocks, followed by Ivan Perez and Andrew Stewart with 10 kills apiece. The two teams squared off again Friday night.
