VERNAL — Utah State University on Wednesday named C. Wesley Holley as the dean and executive director of its Uinta Basin regional campus.

Holley will assume his new duties on Sept. 1, after leaving New Mexico State University, where he is currently serving as associate dean and director of academic programs in the College of Agriculture and Home Economics.

Due to the growing number of programs in regional campuses statewide, Holley is the first dean named at the Uintah Basin campus. Prior to his job at New Mexico State University, he worked more than 20 years at Oklahoma State University in administrative positions, where he also earned his bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in agricultural education. He brings experience from various off-campus and distance education programs.

"He understands the challenges of being a first-generation college student," said Debbie Spafford, chairwoman of the USU Uintah Basin regional campus advisory board.

Holley said he looks forward to the new opportunities in Utah.
